Home Sweet Home | Housewarming Party

This blog hits right at home for me, literally! My boyfriend & I bought a house in May and finally had the chance to invite our family & friends over for a day full of house warming! We are such busy bees that it is almost impossible to find a weekend day we both have off and can pick a date that coordinates with our schedule. After so many people asking to get an invite and it being time for Wedding Season kickoff, I chose a date! Saturday, September 11th only seemed fitting considering it was Sunday Football Kick-Off (Which is serious business in our home) and 9/11, a day we all cherish. As NY Giants fans and the patriotic holiday a RED, WHITE & BLUE theme it quickly became - & of course touches of GOLD -of course!!

I knew I had a wedding the previous day as well as guests staying with us that week so I needed to keep decor and food as simple as possible! I cleaned the house a few days before and made my menu and grocery list many days in advance. The party start time was around 1p so I only had that morning to prep & cook the food. I kept it light & easy with some chips & dip, cheese platter, shrimp cocktail, bruschetta, chex-mix and corn dog muffins (find recipe below). I also asked my in-laws and parents to help out and bring a dish to be sure we had plenty for everyone.

Bill, my boyfriend of 4yrs, is the Bloody-Mary Master! His only job for this party was to make sure the yard looked nice and make his special Bloody-Mary Mix. The day prior to the event he whipped up his homemade "Bloody-Bill" Mix and Cucumber-Jalapeno Vodka and let them marinate over night. I had already purchased all the fun toppings so it just needed setup the morning of.

I instantly reached out to one of my favorite bakers in town, Pink Pineapple Bakery, and asked for some adorable sugar cookies to fit our party. A beautiful calligrapher & friend, Brooke Holden of Brooke Holden Calligraphy created all of the adorable signage!

Our new home address is 121 - You'll see where that comes in!

Most importantly, Hannah Ruth Photography who captured the most perfect moments of our party. We will have these memories of our first home for a lifetime! You have no clue how much this means to us!
