FUNDRAISING THROUGH FASHION | COMPASSION THROUGH FASHION SHOW 2018 | NEW DIRECTIONS SHELTERS

On Saturday, April 21st, EBS partnered with New Directions to create, dare I say it, the best fashion show on the Grand Strand. The 3rd Annual Compassion Through Fashion (CTF) at the Marriott Grande Dunes benefitted New Directions (ND) to provide food, shelter, safety, and hope for homeless men, women, children, and veterans. The ND team works to make sure that everyone who comes by the shelters can see and live up to their full potential.

Each CTF entry was required to create an exclusive, engaging and intriguing design for their models to wear as they walked the runway. But here’s the catch, all designs had to be made out of recycled materials! The participants this year used everything from ponchos to water bottles, bubble wrap and even comic book pages. Each design was truly unbelievable.

During the event, guests had the opportunity to bid on over 50 silent auction items ranging from hotel stays to concert tickets. 30 bottles of wine were donated by members of the community to be sold at the event for $12 each. Each bottle sold, paid for a homeless individual to have safety, shelter, and food for one night.

When our team first started on this venture alongside with ND, we set a goal to raise $50,000 for the shelters. By the end of the night, we had raised over $61,000 thanks to our sponsors, community members and generous donations! All of the proceeds will benefit the shelters in Myrtle Beach to help thousands of people reach their full potential.

Compassion Through Fashion gathered over 30 sponsorships, including two presenting sponsors, McDonald’s and Blue Cross Blue Shield of South Carolina. These presenting sponsors each gave $5,000 to help make the 3rd Annual CTF a success.

To make judging our lovely participants fair, our team found 5 local celebrity judges to help us choose the winners. We had the pleasure of welcoming to the show the beautiful Meghan Miller of WBTW News13, the charming Thomas Davis of Collectors Café & Gallery, the charismatic Carl Kerridge of Carl Kerridge Photography, the infatuating Joujou Safa of Bijuju, and the elegant Kalina Smith of RK Consignments and Interiors, Inc.

Our 5 judges had their work cut out for them with our 17 amazing participants. Each participant offered a unique and entrancing design as they strutted down the runway to custom tunes played by our guest DJ Matt Hayward. Next year, the CTF team wants to have over 30 participants! We think we can do it!

Overall, we had such a blast planning this event. It was a huge success and we already can’t wait until the 4th Annual Compassion Through Fashion.

xoxo,

SkyWheel Events | Myrtle Beach, SC | EVENTS BY SANTANA

2017 was a year of many wonderful new partnerships! One being the home of the best view in town. The SkyWheel in Myrtle Beach is 200-feet above sea level making it one of the optimal places to observe the Atlantic Ocean and all the fun to be had on the Myrtle Beach Boardwalk. EVENTS BY SANTANA was brought in to coordinate monthly events for all locals and first-timers alike.

With the help of some awesome creative partners, we have had special appearances from superheroes, fairytale characters, the Easter bunny, Mr. and Mrs. Clause and much more. Many events featured some one-of-a-kind balloon displays from Imagination Creations in addition to face painters, balloon twisters and did I mention the mini horse? Playful, quirky games, such as ring toss, offered a chance to win exclusive prizes while dancing along to the sound of the DJ! SkyWheel’s neighbor, LandShark Bar & Grill, generously provided complementary treats and specialty beverages for guests to enjoy.

We had Spooktacular events, CarnEVIL’s, Who-Bilation's, Season Festivals, an exclusive Eclipse party and many more themed days! Looking forward to another year with the best view in town! Stay updated on 2018 events at http://www.skywheel.com

Shrimp & Grits Cook Off | Hammock Shops Village, Pawleys Island, SC | EVENTS BY SANTANA

One of my personal favorites, the Hammock Shops Village’s most anticipated event thrived its second year. That’s right! This May of 2017 marked the 2nd Annual Shrimp & Grits Cook-Off  at “the porch” in the Pawleys Island Hammock Shops. The top chefs in the area gathered to battle for the prestigious titles of People’s Choice and Best Shrimp & Grits offering their unique renditions of the crowd favorite comfort food. All proceeds from the delicious event benefitted Miss Ruby’s Kids, a Non-Profit literacy program serving families in Georgetown County.

With the help of EventWorks rentals, the cook-off decor was themed around a vibrant blue and electric orange color scheme with pops of yellow accents. DJ Wally B with Paul Matthews Entertainment kept the energy up while guests indulged in the most savory bites. Kona Ice Truck parked just outside offered a sweet note to the days delectable palette. There was something for everyone when The Character Company came out with activities for the kids and balloon animals for all, but lets not forget the contestants! Up for the title were Bagel Cafe, Bistro 217, Hanser House, Rustic Table, bisQit, Get Carried Away, Quigley’s and Southern Comforts. Talk about a competition!

It was not an easy decision, as each taste was exquisite, but with an esteemed panel of judges and the help of the attendees, two winners were chosen. People’s Choice went to Bistro 217 and the winner of Best Shrimp & Grits went to Southern Comforts.

Looking forward to round 3!
